Today my friends in London gave me a proper send off since I’m moving back to Chicago in a few days. We decided to go along the south bank and grab a few drinks by the National Theatre. Some of the cocktails were insanely delicious and we were able to purchase five pound standing room only tickets for the show The Red Barn. The plot left something to be desired in my opinion, but the stagework was incredible. A shutter type apparatus was in front of the stage and forced the viewer to look only at small areas at any given time. The most rooms that were on stage were three, and it was for less than 30 seconds. This, along with the incredible lighting of the stage areas revealed to the viewer throughout the production made The Red Barn one of the most aesthetically pleasing plays that I have seen in a long time. Following that we went out for another drink. It was one of my more expensive nights in London, but it was well worth the money spent. I’ll miss London and the friends I’ve made here.
