Day 32 – A Year of Writing

I want to start introducing a word of the day in my daily posts. Today’s in “vulpine” which means that which resembles or relates to a fox. It also can mean “crafty” or “foxy” -though not foxy in the sexual sense. I miss seeing foxes everywhere. There were so many in London, way less of them here in Chicago. Though we have raccoons -trash pandas- which are in their own way quite vulpine. They’re rather smart and sly. However, another issue that the States has which the UK does not is rabies. This is why foxes aren’t really more than a nuisance to gardeners and farmers in the UK, but a run in with a raccoon stateside could land you in the hospital for more than cuts. This post has gone really off where I wanted it, but that’s fine. Tonight I’ll be cooking with an old friend of mine who I met in London. He lives in Chicago now as well!
